Frequently Asked Questions
Exuberance is a boutique creative agency servicing the fundraising sector. Exceptional copywriting, and the thinking behind it, is our core offering.
Creative work from Exuberance is strongly differentiated from generic charity sector or AI-created material. Exuberance copy conveys the unique tone, values and ‘offer‘ of each client. Our work is informed by sector best-practice tactics, data insights, and the decades of experience our writers bring to their craft.
We partner with other creative suppliers to give clients the combination of skills and service that best meets their needs.
In terms of process:
Initial discussions make sure we are clear about your needs.
We provide a quote for the work based on your scope/deliverables. If you want designers we can recommend the ones we work with on a regular basis. You can have an all-in-one quote (no mark-up or commission), or get a separate quote. We can also recommend other suppliers and specialists.
You provide a brief. We have a handy template you can use, and will sometimes create a bespoke briefing template if the situation calls for it.
Our Business Manager creates a timeline – working back from your final artwork date. She has thorough knowledge of print/data/production processes, and will work with you to make sure you have enough time for internal approvals.
We’re not fixed or inflexible. There are variations in this process depending on the client, collaborators and the realities of life.
Overall, you can feel confident that your work will be delivered on time, through transparent and carefully planned processes, plus good communication.
In terms of relationship:
You get a direct line to Mary Anne (MA), our Creative Director. She is thoroughly across all the work that comes out of Exuberance, and has a lot of useful sector knowledge and experience. If something is troubling you, something goes wrong, or you’d just really appreciate some advice or a view – you can reach out and MA will respond quickly. You get writers who care deeply about your work and theirs. They are mature, sensitive and ethical. There is no ‘bang it out’ mentality at Exuberance. We don’t take shortcuts. The first draft you receive will often have already had several rounds of in-house review and finessing.
Everyone at Exuberance understands data, fundraising tactics, sector challenges and how hard your job probably is.
You can trust us with your stories. We are extremely careful with people who agree to share their personal experiences – often really painful and difficult ones – to help charities raise funds. We enjoy involving frontline workers in fundraising, and we make sure it’s a good experience for them.
Over the years, we’ve had to deal with a lot of challenging situations. Emergencies, pivot-at-the-last-minute scenarios, difficult appeal topics, multi-stakeholder review processes, low budget, no assets, ‘we’re all new here and we don’t know how this works’, and more. (Oh, the stories we could tell!) We can usually get clients out of a tough situation with minimal running-around-squealing.
Yes.
There are a few teaser examples under the “Our work” tab of this website. They don’t show entire campaigns or pieces of work.
If you would like to see more and/or more detail, please get in touch and let us know what you’re looking for. We have a substantial library of work we are proud of and can share (subject to the permission of our clients and collaborators).
Yes. And they all get the same level of attention and care.
Our smallest client has a fundraising team of one. We also work with several big name global charities. There are charities of all sizes and types in between.
Yes. If a not-for-profit needs good clear thinking and communication, we can help.
Examples include:
Brand proposition development
Brand and services marketing
Development of ‘key messages’ that fundraisers and others in an organisation can confidently use
Tone of voice development
Training for in-house writers and fundraisers
No.
We believe we are only as good as our last project. We want clients to ask us to help on another brief because they received high quality work and a great experience on the last one.
That’s not to say that we don’t value and seek longer relationships. It’s a privilege to get to know a client, and we’re lucky to have some really long-standing relationships, but we don’t take those relationships, or the next brief, for granted.
The quality of our thinking and copywriting.
The care and craft that go into our work.
Our flexibly and responsiveness to individual clients’ needs.
The joy we get from using our skills to help make the world a better place.
We’re really happy to write you a social media post, a multi-channel fundraising campaign, a case for support for a $60 million dollar project or a thank you letter. It all matters and it all deserves the best of our attention and energy and skill.
We have two.
The first is our AI use guide for writers and collaborators.
The second is our Commitment to Clients on AI.
