Be better writers.

Better at connecting with your clients’ audience. Because each charity’s donors are
different.
Better at conveying the unique personality and tone of each organisation that you
write for.
Better at story telling. Steep in the stories you are trusted with. Feel for the highs and
lows, the painful parts, the bits that your body responds to. Find the points of
universality, relatability, recognition, shared humanity.
Better at your craft. Continue to study and learn. Read widely. Stay on top of sector
trends. Don’t apply ‘best practice’ or until you have thoroughly considered whether it
is, and whether it is for this client, this piece, this circumstance.
Don’t take shortcuts in matters of trust and integrity. Even if AI offers you one.
Build your skills and intuition and instinct and problem-solving capacity with practice,
practice, practice.
And keep caring.
Because no matter how many hours of training and how much prompting and how
much material is stolen to feed the AI machine, it will never actually understand,
relate, empathise, hurt, fear, cry, love.
And you do.
